Timothy J. Drozinski 5.0 out of 5 stars I'm just tired of the mess. One of the main reasons why I wanted a label maker was because of the tangle of cords associated with my home theater system. With power cords for two game consoles, cable box, TV, DVD player, a Roku SoundBridge and a wireless bridge all plugged into the same power strip it was nearly impossible to figure out what I was unplugging at any given time. I made double-copy labels and folded one in half around every cable to make an easy-to-read tag, so now I know what every one is for without having to trace a wire from one end to the other through the rat's nest of wires behind the entertainment center. I also used it to label all the boxes and Rubbermaid bins full of stuff in the attic storage space, and labeled some more plastic storage bins in a few closets. The PT-80 features a full QWERTY-style keyboard that is easy to use, which is nicer than some other models that arrange the buttons in alphabetical order. I can two-thumb-type out any label in a matter of seconds. I've read some complaints about wasted tape, but I've organized three rooms with dozens of labels (many of them double-ended cable tags as I described for my entertainment center) and still haven't used up the first 26' cartridge. The little slot in the back of the device that helps peel the label end is nice, but doesn't work on the first time, every time.

I don't know if that experience is any different with other styles of tape, as I've only used the standard black-on-white tape. An added bonus was that this device and the tape cartridges are significantly cheaper from Amazon than at the local office supply chain stores, especially with free 2-day shipping with Amazon Prime.I've seen them around for a while now and thought them a silly waste of money. Not so any more! I'm a home user, unlike the reviewers who only gave it three stars because it's not fast enough for her office environment. I'm delighted with this unit, and find it very intuitive to use. The instructions are so easy to read and informative (surprises abound!) they're well worth the extra five minutes it takes to go through them. If I'd skipped them like I usually do I never would have known about 80 of what this machine can do. The little gadget that helps you peel the label from its backing is genius. The qwerty keyboard makes typing fasting because you intuitively know where to look for the next letter--even if it's so small that you can't type on it like a laptop. The unit is very lightweight and portable. My only suggestion is to be sure to turn it off after you've printed your last label or you might accidentally push the print key resulting in a wasted label. Amazon's price is great. 50 of what I've seen in stores. Buy with confidence and enjoy!I read the reviews that mentioned that the batteries don't last long. But for a brand new battery pack to only print about 7 (SEVEN) small labels before the machine shuts down is ridiculous. The biggest shocker for me, however, was that this label maker does NOT accept rechargeable NiMH batteries. And remember, there is no AC adapter for this device. I think this is a serious design flaw (or defect) making this completely useless, unless you like going through Alkaline batteries like popcorn. I returned this product after a very short time (thank you AMAZON!

) and ordered another label maker (Brother PT-2100). And the PT-2100 ROCKS. The PT-2100 accepts researchable NiMH batteries (and they seem to last forever), and it comes with an AC power adapter. The Pt-80 had enough capabilities for my needs, but until brother fixes that power issue, it is not a machine you can rely on.It takes a lot of batteries and seems to go through them faster than previous label makers that I have owned in the past. It's also difficult to remove the backing from the labels. I have also noticed that it will sometimes switch font sizes for no apparent reason. Just yesterday I printed 3 labels with the font size set on small. The third label magically went to the large font. So I had to go back in to the settings and set the font back to small and re-print. It has a slight toyish feel to it, but is a very comfortable grip. If you're used to typing on a cell phone with QWERTY keys, you should be able to type on this pretty quickly as well. They stick like they are supposed to, and they peel off without a trace when you want them to. The wide variety of fonts, styles, etc.It even prints two lines of text if you want it to. I'll never use all the features. The labels are easy to peel apart using the little slot tool, and so what if there is a margin on both sides of the label. That's the way these things work. Even the executive, overpriced versions do that. Yes, the replacement cartridges are expensive, but they are on all these things. Hey - you want cheap. Go get a hand-numbing plastic twirling squeezy thing at a dollar discount store. I'll keep this one, thank you very much.Poderia vir com fonte para ligar direto na energia. This labeler is very handy to have around the office. Expect to go through your first roll of tape very quickly, as you'll be labeling everything in site. Peeling the tape off has not been difficult as some other reviewers have stated. One fault I have found is that the default font is large and I prefer small. I would have also liked an AC adapter, but I still havent had to replace the batteries yet, and I am half way through my second roll of tape. Otherwise this labeler has done everything I have expected it to do; label things.Sorry, we failed to record your vote. Please try again. This information is for reference purposes only.
