M ETHODS W A TERSHED D ESCRIPTION The research was conducted using data collected on the Little River Experimental Watershed (LREW) (Sheridan et al., 1982; Sheridan, 1997). The LREW is a 334 km 2 basin at the headwaters of the Little River in Turner, W orth, and Tift counties in southwestern Georgia (fig. 1). The watershed out- let, station B, is approximately 5 km west of the Coastal Plain Research Station near Tifton, Georgia. Eight stream gauges have been placed within the watershed to create nested sub- watersheds. Precipitation, flow, and water quality records have been collected on the LREW since the late 1960s (Sheri- dan, 1997). The calibration and sensitivity analysis were performed on subwatershed K (SW-K), which is located at the upper end of the LREW (fig. 1). Mixed forest and pines cover approxi- mately 65 of SW-K; land use in the remainder of the 16.9 km 2 subwatershed is primarily row crops, including cot- ton, peanuts, corn, and fruit and vegetable crops.
