It takes minutes to heat up. Once hot, it's ready to go and the glue pushes out easily. I see no deterioration in performance. I am on my second 1,000 glue stick box. I am not a big fan of first impression reviews that are posted shortly after the product is purchased. The bottom line is that this glue gun is still working well years down the line. He had two others that after nearly 10 years of use finally started having problems. One of them, the heating element burnt out so we had to buy a new one for back up. The included wide-stance rear wire foot clips on, but is unnecessary. It would get in the way for many of my tasks. The line cord is grounded, 3-wire, industrial strength, with a strain relief at the gun end. I recommend this gun to anyone who doesn't like disposable tools. Vuelva a intentarlo It heats up to a lower temperature now and pumps out glue a bit slower, however it still works very well for what I am using it for and it is as well several years old. Over the years I've purchased two more and I recommend it to multiple people. The temperature of the glue can get very hot and burn you if you are not careful.
